Instructor and Choreographer for The Force Dance Company
Dance Instructor Emily Stevens started dancing at Broadway Bound when she was 5 years old and went on to join The Force at age 7. She competed as a member of the force for five years before continuing her training at the New Jersey School of Ballet. Emily received her formal ballet training from the New Jersey School of Ballet under the direction of Carolyn C. Clark. During her time at New Jersey Ballet she performed alongside their main company as a member of New Jersey Ballet Junior Company. She has been instructed by New Jersey Ballet artistic advisor and Miami City Ballet founder Edward Villella. Here she danced numerous roles in ballets such as The Nutcracker, Giselle, and Don Quixote. Emily had the opportunity to attend American Ballet Theaters Summer Intensive for two consecutive summers where she studied under former ABT principal Wes Chapman and Boston and Miami City Ballet former principal Mikhail Ilyin, as well as three summers at the French Academie of Ballet under the direction of Francois Perron. She also attended a summer intensive with BalletX where she trained alongside their company and was instructed by director Christine Cox and others. Emily has been featured as a principal guest artist for Farber Ballet school in Brooklyn NYC and has taught Master classes at schools in New Jersey. Emily is currently a Student at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance on artistic scholarship and will graduate in 2021. Here she is receiving training under Michael Sheridan, Anne White, Martha Chamberlain, and Amy Aldridge, all former members of Pennsylvania Ballet, Gary Jeter, former company member of Complexions, Philadanco, and BalletX, as well as Wayne St. David and Kim Bears-Bailey. She has also had the opportunity to be in works by Douglas Becker and Helen Pickett both former dancers for Ballett Frankfurt under William Forsythe. Here she has been able to perform in many works by faculty and worldwide choreographers as well as working on pieces of her own. Emily has taught at dance schools in New Jersey as well as The Rock School For Dance Education in Philadelphia. Emily could not be more excited to be back in the BBDC family! |
