Ages 18 +
Beginner Adult tap is an introduction to Broadway-style tap utilizing fundamental skills that focus on rhythm, musicality, and timing. Classes will include warm-ups, repetition of tap steps in place and across-the-floor, and combinations. Tap terminology shall be discussed and an eventual objective will be to learn a historically correct tap routine from the 1930’s. Upon fruitful progression, we shall further develop skills focusing on speed, clarity, and performance.
After successful completion of Beginner Course, or after a practical evaluation, Advanced level progresses to more complex combinations, styles, and speed. Rhythm-style tap is now blended into Broadway style giving a well-rounded background. More historical tap routines, along with the history of their masters, are introduced and practiced.
Beginner & Advanced classes combine for half an hour of class time. Both perform a few times a year at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and the annual recital. Oxford-type tap shoes required.
